About me

I attended my first yoga class with the inspirational Maria Santangelo in my early thirties, nearly twenty years ago.

It quickly bec
ame a favourite time of my week as I started on my personal journey to reconnect with my body, turn down my racing mind and explore how to bring about more balance to my life.

"Sthira sukham asanam"
Strong, steady, stable
(
Yoga Sutras of Patanjali 2.46)

My first teacher training was for me, completing a second in 2015 which gave me the tools to share with others.  I've enjoyed taking regular classes since moving home to the Highlands in 2017.

In February 2024, I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to study and passed the 40-hour Menopause Yoga teacher training course with with Petra Coveney, supported by Foundation Scotland's Education and Training funding.

"Chitta Vritti Nirodhah"
Cease the fluctuations of the mind, and act from a place of awareness and observation.
(Yoga Sutras of Patanjali 1.2)

The specialised yoga practice combines western science with eastern wellbeing, adapting yoga poses (asana) and breathing (pranayama) to bring a positive holistic approach to women's wellbeing.

It has helped me to continue on my own unique menopause journey, and given me some extra tools in the toolkit to use and share! #self-care #safe #supported #signpost to other services (Samadhi)

I'm currently considering how to integrate my learnings to share.  Please do reach out if your interested in future classes and workshops by completing a new student registration form or contacting me direct.

Training and qualifications ......

I have two 200 hour yoga teacher qualifications, approved by Yoga Alliance, and recently completed specialist course that uses yoga practice to support women through their menopause and beyond.

- 40 hour, Menopause Yoga teacher training course with the skillful Petra Coveney

- 32 hour, study of restorative yoga with the renowned and inspirational Anna Ashby

- 200 hour, study with Ian Davies, of the outstanding Orange Yoga school for the learning and teaching of yoga in Cheltenham.

- 200 hour, study of Therapeutic Yoga with Kathy Ward, Mindful Academy International in the beautiful mountains of Spain.

Also attended a number of short courses, retreats and workshops with experienced teachers (Maria Santangelo, Matthew Sanford, Jason Crandell, Norman Blair, Denise Teperino, Tina Pashumati James, Adam Hustler).

Niyama's | Svadhyaya: self-study (including one's self)

At times of change …

Perhaps you could begin to cultivate or develop a daily breathing practice (meditation).
Could you add this to your daily routine, starting with 5 minutes and see where you get too....
"This too shall pass" is my chosen mantra right now. I use these words to create an equal length to my inhale and exhale, breathing in through the nose and out through the nose.  It is best in a seated position, quiet with eyes closed, however you can do this at any time!

There are lots of resources and app's online to help guide you practice yoga. There are many teachers and styles, find the one that suits you and keep mixing it up - change is good.
 Om Shanti
